Ready, Set, Gym: Let’s Get Strong

Hello love, you’re probably looking here for a reason… You want to start your gym journey! Well, I’m glad that you want to begin this journey.

I can only imagine how excited and nervous you are at the same time. It feels like a big step. Before I started my gym journey I was a bit scared because I imagined all these giant and fit people in a room. I was very weak and when I say weak I mean weak. So that got me a bit nervous. I didn’t have friends who were into the gym and I didn’t want to do it all alone. It’s already nerve-wracking enough. So I decided to get a personal trainer to start up. To this day, it is still one of my best decisions ever. I told her I needed help with starting my journey, asking how the machines work, what exercises I needed to do, and help with my form.

Four months later I decided to do it ALL by myself because I felt confident enough. Never felt better in my skin before. Everyone should be able to experience the feeling after a good workout it’s amazing. It’s even better when you notice you gain a little bit of muscle and lose a bit of fat. It was never my goal to go to the gym to CHANGE my body. I wanted to go to the gym to feel STRONGER.

Don't ask me what is wrong with my hand because girl I don't know either. But this picture is giving vibes (the pink sportbra is the only reason why lol)

Love, if you want to start this journey, you can! Start going to the gym once a week. It can really be a lot in the beginning… I couldn’t even wash my hair after my first workout I was so sore. The gym isn’t a race! Take it slow and steady. Be open for help and don’t be afraid to ask for help. I love to help people in the gym and so does the rest of the community. Remember: everyone starts somewhere.

My tips for you:

  • Don’t be afraid: everyone is there for the same reasons
  • Prioritize eating enough and healthy (includes “unhealthy” snacks too!)
  • SLEEP! Please sleep enough
  • KEEP track! (example: hip thrust with bar, set 1: 80kg 10 reps)
    • So: what exercise, which set, and how many kilos/reps
    • So you can track your progression! :)
